Off-Season Training for SUP Yoga & Paddle boarding

Floating SUP yoga is an amazing way to train your balance, challenge yourself, and connect with nature all at the same time. However, since it requires nice weather and low wind conditions, it can be hard to keep a consistent practice. I live in south Florida where we are blessed with year round warm weather and even I have a difficult time keeping a consistent floating SUP yoga practice because we can have stormy weeks or periods of high wind that throw off my training schedule.

That’s why I am really excited about my new find: the Indo Yoga Board. This board rocks side to side in a way that mimics being on a paddle board in the water and the unstable surface creates an ideal way to challenge your balance while building strength in the core and stabilizer muscles. It’s also a really fun way to spice up your yoga practice when you can’t get out on the water for an extended time.

The only negative I’ve found with the Indo Yoga Board, is that since it doesn’t have a deck pad like a SUP, it can be hard on your knees in any kneeling poses. But that hasn’t been a big deal for me because I like to go back and forth between my mat and the board, practicing kneeling or supine poses on my mat and challenging myself with the Indo Yoga board for standing balance poses. I’ve also put a grippy yoga mat on top of the board when using it for longer sequences and that solved the issue.
